Getting Ready for the Heart of Our Trip

Today was a wonderful, relaxing day. The kids and I swam in the hotel pool while Bob took his shower. Since we are in a different hotel tonight (one closer to the airport), we had to check out, then ate brunch at Denny's. After that, we found a beach (like that's hard to do around here), and swam for a couple of hours. Aidan thoroughly enjoyed his first swim in the ocean, except for the taste of the salt water!

When we'd had enough sun & fun, we drove to tonight's hotel and tried to check in, but couldn't yet, because the room was in Pastor Keeler's name, and they hadn't arrived yet. So we decided to go ahead and find long-term parking for the car, sort and arrange our belongings (those going to Haiti vs. Those we only needed in Florida), then catch the shuttle to the airport to catch the shuttle to the hotel (a little convaluted, but it worked). While we were waiting for the first shuttle, Pastor Keeler called to say they'd arrived, and we'd meet at the hotel.

We had a yummy dinner at Islamorada Fish Company with Pastor Keeler and Melissa (the rest of the team decided to spend the night in the airport). Earlier in the day, Aidan and Bob had a conversation about how Aidan was positive he didn't like ANY fish for a meal, and Bob argued that there wasn't much fish that Aidan had ever tried. Honestly, Aidan probably got that from me, as fish is almost non-existant on the priority list when we go out to eat. So since we were going to a fish restaurant, I decided I would try something involving fish, and then have Aidan try it. As it turns out, I was the only one of us to order fish! I was a bit conservative, though, and got the fish tacos, with sides of broccoli and a baked potato, just in case! But the tacos were yummy, so I gave him a taste. He didn't want to, but finally obliged, and survived, although he didn't ask for more. :-)

Now it's back to the hotel for quick showers to wash off the salt, then to bed. We have to get up at 2am to catch the hotel shuttle to the airport at 3am. Our flight leaves at 6:30 am, and we should arrive in Cap Haitien around 8:30am local time (I believe they are an hour behind us due to Daylight Savings Time).

Of course we would appreciate reading your comments and prayers - keep 'em coming!
